Why Passing Notes?
Passing Notes is an eclectic bunch. At any given time you're sure to find at least one of us walking around on campus being a menace to society. When we get together on Monday and Thursday nights in the hallowed halls of Washington Hall, you can be sure to hear us in the stairwell practicing our melodious tunes, blasting stupid Youtube videos from our room and getting into loud discussions about whether a celebrity is hot or not. If you are looking to collaborate and create beautiful a cappella music, or if you are looking to make some of the best friends, sign up for an audition! You won't regret it, even if you don't like pink.

When are auditions?

Passing Notes holds auditions in the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. Check our homepage for more info about upcoming audition dates!

How do I sign up?
You can sign up to audition at the Activities Fair or A Cappella Showcase, which are both held right at the beginning of each semester. At the Showcase, you will see Passing Notes and the rest of William and Mary's a cappella groups perform, and you can snag your slot to audition for us by finding our table! If you can't or weren't able to make it to the Activities fair or Showcase but you still want to sign-up, contact us using any of the methods on the Contact page!

What should I bring/ prepare?
You should prepare a verse and a chorus from a song of your choosing. Pick a song that shows off your voice and that you feel comfortable with! You can pick any genre you like, but we generally suggest that you stay away from choral music and showtunes. Also be sure to only prepare a verse and a chorus, not an entire song for the purposes of time!
All you need to bring is water (hydrate or diedrate) and your beautiful self! Your singing is very important, but we are also looking for fun, friendly people who will bring a great energy when they perform and when they interact with the group.

What should I expect?
If you can, plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early, in case we are running ahead of schedule!  When you arrive, you will fill out a brief audition form, and we'll call you at your assigned time. We'll run you through a few warm-up exercises, listen to your solo, and then ask you a few questions to get to know you a little better. Just relax and be yourself! The whole audition won't take more than 10 minutes.
